THE HISTORY OF SOZO
SOZO is an annual, global Apostolic conference held in Durban, South Africa.
The vision for SOZO was born in 2008 by Apostle Deborah Bell (Lead Apostle of DGAN Apostolic Network & Deo Gloria Family Church), with a desire to see people not only having a deeper encounter with GOD, but to see people enter into a new dimension of God’s presence & revelation for the future.
It started with Apostle Deborah seeing that many believers in the body of Christ are not living in the fullness of Christ, because of not having dealt with strongholds and emotional trauma, which have prevented people from moving into their future and the fullness of God’s love and power.
This conference is one of Apostolic activation and impartation, through the power of Holy Spirit.
“In our unity as the global church, through SOZO, we are birthing and igniting a fire as iron sharpens iron, in our coming together as the saints and Fivefold of God, to take back with us the NEW, as we enter into the future and demonstrate the power of a living God in our lives and in our ministries.”
– Apostle Deborah Bell
WHAT DOES “SOZO” MEAN?
SOZO is a Greek word (Strong’s Dictionary #4982) used in the New Testament, translated as “saved”, “healed”, “delivered”, “preserved” and “made whole”. It is used to denote being restored to wholeness. Sozo refers to the spirit, soul (mind, will and emotions) and body.
So for us as an Apostolic network, this word “sozo” is very important. It is also why we have called our annual conference SOZO, because we believe in living in the FULLNESS of God’s blessings and in the WHOLENESS of Christ’s love.
This can only happen when we allow ourselves to be sozo’d! (Saved, healed and made whole, in mind, body, soul and spirit.) This requires surrendering ourselves over fully to Christ and trusting him in our healing, to touch us supernaturally and set us free from all that holds us back from our inheritance. This is what leads to living in the fullness of all God has for us in the supernatural power of Holy Spirit, and stepping into the destiny Christ has for every one of us.
For the Son of Humanity came to seek and to save [sozo] what was lost.
(Luke 19:10, NIV)
And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved [sozo]. (Acts 2:21, NIV)
“And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve [sozo] me for God’s heavenly kingdom. To God be glory forever and ever. Amen!” (2 Ti 4:18, NKJV)
